Who can apply for a maid?
- Employer with income per annum of at least RM60,000.
- Valid reason to apply for a maid (e.g. medical issues, care of children below 15 years old or the elderly)

How long is the employment period of a maid?
- 2 years
How long is a maid allowed to work for you?
- No limit but is subject to agreement between the employer and the maid.
What are the responsibilities of the employer?
- Basic accommodation, personal items and food must be provided (e.g. shampoo, sanitary napkin)
- Employer should not request the maid to engage in activities other than household related task.
- Employer shall respect the maid’s culture and religion.
- Employer shall not abuse the maid whether physically or mentally.
- Support any medical expenses that may occur in the event of an injury / sickness during the employment period. Maid must be insured with foreign worker compensation scheme.
- Terms & conditions of employment contract being signed shall be followed.
- Salary must be paid on time upon maid’s arrival in Malaysia.
- Salary deduction shall not be exercised upon unintentional damage of items.
- The maid agency must be informed prior to any plan of sending the maid back to her country.
